Weeping Extraordinaire™ Prunus is a cascade of fluffy powderpuff flowers in spring. They emerge deep pink before mellowing to a softer cherry tone.
The foliage is appealing, too, emerging in a coppery color before shifting to dark green. In the fall, you can expect red and burgundy fall foliage.
In every season Weeping Extraordinaire™ Prunus has a graceful, weeping habit.
This tree will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed.
It will grow to be about 20 feet tall with a spread of 20 feet. It has a low canopy, typically clearing about 2 feet from the ground, so it is suitable for planting under power lines. Under ideal conditions, this cultivar can be expected to live for 50 years or more.
This tree should only be grown in full sunlight. It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. With beauty that belies its toughness, it is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments.
