Vibrant Pink Blooms for Warm Climates
If you read last week’s post, you know I am all about highlighting pretty pink shrubs. But unlike the cool climate potentilla I just covered, this week’s feature focuses on a plant that loves the heat!
Austin Pretty Limits® oleander (Nerium oleander) is the perfect addition to a warm climate garden. Recognized for its toughness and long bloom window, this stunning variety produces vibrant pink blooms that can be enjoyed year-round.

Austin Pretty Limits® oleander brings a splash of color to the landscape. Its five-petaled flowers appear in a pink hue that is bold and bright enough to stop you in your tracks. And, thanks to strong disease resistance, its green foliage remains healthy throughout the year.
For those in a cooler climate, you don’t need to be too envious. Although you won’t be able to have blooms year-round, you can enjoy a little pop of summer color by using it as a patio plant during the warmer months.
Austin Pretty Limits® oleander is suited to USDA zones 8-11. As a sun-loving shrub, it requires at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. It grows in most soil types, and its durability allows it to thrive even in poor conditions. It does have low water needs, so try not to overwater it, as that will cause it to fail. It grows to 4′-6′ tall and 4′ wide. The sap of the plant is toxic, so if you choose to give it a trim, make sure you wear gloves and carefully throw away the clippings.
Note: As with all oleanders, this plant is toxic if ingested.
Reblooming Spring Shrubs
One of the best features of Austin Pretty Limits® oleander is its continuous display of blooms. If you love that feature in a plant, you can explore more of our impressive reblooming varieties in Kristina’s blog, “10 Spring Reblooming Shrubs.” This gardening season, make the most of your outdoor space!
