An Oldie but a Goodie
I grew up in a Scooby-Doo household. What I mean is that we had every Scooby-Doo movie and every episode on either VHS or DVD. Of course, these were the original movies and tv shows, nothing past 2006.
While I was perusing a list of movies that turned 20 years old in 2022, the live-action Scooby-Doo movie popped up. For nostalgia alone, I would consider this a goodie. Okay, the CGI is bad, but it’s a Scooby-Doo film, so I think we can cut it some slack. The sequel Scooby-Doo 2 turns 20 next year. You can let me know if 20 years old is an okay time to label a movie an oldie but a goodie.
What about the shrub world? Well, Fine Line® Buckthorn is one of our older plants, but it’s still a good one. You can hold off on that strongly worded email because this variety is non-invasive!

Quite Fine
Fine Line® is a tremendously useful landscape plant. It’s adaptable, durable, and fits into tight spaces like the sidewalk shown above. Who wouldn’t love a handsome screen of Fine Line® hedging their yard from the neighbors? You can even plant Fine Line® in containers to spruce up your patio.
Fine Line® is hardy to USDA Zone 2 and will grow in full sun or partial shade. It will take almost any soil and pretty much whatever the weather throws at it. It grows 5-7′ tall and about 2-3′ wide. That narrow columnar form is just wonderful, and the fine texture proves that plants don’t need flowers to be appealing.
