A New Look For a Garden Classic!

Invincibelle Sublime™ hydrangea is a smooth hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens) native to North America. You may have heard of ‘Annabelle’ smooth hydrangea, in fact, you may refer to smooth hydrangeas as Annabelle hydrangeas because ‘Annabelle’ is truly a garden classic. While the original ‘Annabelle’ hydrangea can flop during summer rains, Invincibelle® smooth hydrangeas have incredibly sturdy stems, so there’s no flopping all season long.

Sitting on top of the extremely sturdy stems are large, fluffy lime green blooms that really shine in the garden all season long. The light green flowers contrast beautifully with the dark green foliage. These cloud-like blooms also look fantastic as cut flowers (fresh or dried)! You can cut up the stem vertically about 2 inches for a longer vase life.

Invincibelle Sublime™ grows to 3.5-5’ tall and wide and is suited for USDA zones 3-9. If you’re on the cooler end of the hardiness range, this beauty will thrive in full sun. If you’re on the warmer end, it benefits from a site with afternoon shade.

Invincibelle Sublime™ hydrangea blooms on new wood, so it’s recommended to prune in early spring. Cut back by about one-third of its total height, making cuts about ¼ of an inch above a bud. You can remove dead or damaged wood at any time; just cut back to a set of leaves.
