A Worry-Free Shrub for Your Garden
Who doesn’t love a durable plant? Mr. Smooth™ Seedless Thornless Silverthorn (Elaeagnus x) is a great shrub to add to your collection if you want something with tough landscape performance. Tolerating almost any poor gardening conditions, it looks elegant in the landscape all year long with shiny, dense foliage. Plus, it is thornless, non-invasive, and seedless, removing any additional worry!
Mr. Smooth™ Seedless silverthorn has silvery-green foliage that provides four seasons of interest. In the fall, small, white flowers appear, offering a bit of fragrance. Reaching a height and width of 4-6’, it works perfectly as a backdrop for smaller showy plants, placement in hard-to-grow spots, or as cut foliage in a cut flower garden.
Suited to USDA zones 6-9, it prefers full sun to part sun but can perform well in a range of sun exposures. An extremely resilient plant, it tolerates heat, drought, poor soil conditions, and salt. Plus, you do not have to worry about deer damage as it is deer resistant. Regular pruning is not necessary, but you can shape it whenever you like.
Please note that this plant won’t be available in garden centers until 2026. However, you can find it online this season, and it grows quickly enough to make purchasing it as a small plant worthwhile.
Design a Welcoming Garden
A garden is a reflection of your home. If placed near the front of your house, it becomes the first thing people notice and experience. Creating a space that invites and welcomes loved ones, new friends, or anyone stopping by can make a great first impression.
