A Carpet of Blooms
When you think of the role azaleas play in your garden, ground cover is likely not what you’re thinking. But with Perfecto Mundo Fuchsia Carpet™ azalea (Rhododendron x), you can! This low-growing azalea has densely packed foliage, making it an effective weed-blocking ground cover.

As its name suggests, this shrub looks like a carpet of pink blooms in spring and again in mid-summer to fall when it reblooms. Plant multiple of these little shrubs, and you can create a truly eye-catching sea of pink. Even when it’s not blooming, the glossy evergreen foliage creates a delightful display (it may be semi-evergreen at the northern end of its hardiness range). If you’re more of a pale pink fan, check out Perfecto Mundo Pink Carpet® azalea for a sweet light pink alternative.
Perfecto Mundo Fuchsia Carpet™ is suited for USDA zones 6b-9 and thrives in part to full sun. At 1-2’ tall and 2-2.5’ wide, this little azalea tucks nicely in really any garden, and when planted en masse, it is sure to make a statement.
It’s not necessary to prune Perfecto Mundo Fuchsia Carpet™, but if you’d like to increase the abundance of the mid-summer/fall rebloom, you can trim it just after its spring bloom.
