A Festive Shrub for Long-Lasting Color

Have a party in the garden with Pink Piñata™ abelia (Abelia x)! Coming to garden centers in 2027, this shrub packs a punch with a dazzling floral display and a durable, low-maintenance performance.

Pink bell-shaped flowers.

Pink Piñata abelia has a long season of interest beginning in mid-spring when its tips begin to swell with pale pink flowers and deep coral bracts. Pollinators are frequent visitors throughout summer, keeping your landscape one to watch. By fall, the foliage and bracts take on rich burgundy tones for an extra splash of color.

Pink Piñata abelia is a heat-tolerant variety, thriving in USDA zones 6–9. For those in deer-heavy areas, we are happy to report that it holds up well against unwanted browsing, making it a reliable member of our Deer Proof™ program. At 2–3′ tall and wide, its rounded habit brings a lovely bit of structure to the garden. Its natural compact form paired with its lack of “dog legs” means it requires little pruning, but if you like, you can do a bit of shaping in late winter or early spring.
