A Practical Touch of Color
Enjoy bright year-round color with Polar Gold® arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis)! Native to North America, this durable evergreen boasts textured foliage and a handsome shape, bringing both aesthetic and practical appeal to a landscape.
Polar Gold arborvitae is a constant source of interest with cheerful golden foliage that appears on a dense, pyramidal frame. At a height of 12-15′ and width of 4-7′, it fits nicely into residential landscapes and is particularly useful at screening off areas you’d prefer to keep hidden. Its bright color adds to its visual charm, making it an excellent focal point that has no trouble drawing attention.
Polar Gold arborvitae is a very hardy and dependable variety. Performing best in USDA zones 3-8, it is a low-maintenance plant that can easily adapt to various conditions. It enjoys full sun to part sun and any well-drained soil. Pruning is not needed, but if you do want to give it a trim or do a bit of shaping, you can do so in late spring.
Adding Height to a Space
When designing a landscape, incorporating plants with height can add both visual interest and functionality to a space. Polar Gold arborvitae, for instance, can serve as a backdrop for smaller plants, making your landscape feel fuller and more dynamic. Additionally, depending on its placement, it can also provide a serviceable screen for areas you would like to keep private.
