Plant of the Week: RISE UP™ RINGO® Rose

Ringo® roses are some of our most popular varieties: the original Ringo®, Ringo All-Star™, and new to garden centers in 2023, Ringo® Double Pink and Rise Up™ Ringo®.

All have that flashy red eye in the center of the bloom. As one of the Rise Up™ varieties*, Rise Up™ Ringo® is also a climber – something gardeners have been requesting of Proven Winners® for some time. If you don’t want to train a climbing rose, that’s okay. You can also grow it as a tall shrub rose. It is hardy in USDA 4-8.

Like all roses, it will want full sun. Don’t try to cheat your way out of enough sunlight; roses in shade get spindly and don’t flower well.

Rise Up™ Ringo® will grow 3-5′ tall and 2-3′ wide. It has good disease resistance, and those pretty flowers are also fragrant!

Series Business

It’s a little difficult to categorize RISE UP™ Ringo®. Is it part of the RINGO® series of roses with the deep red flower centers or the new RISE UP™ series* of mini climber roses? Perhaps we should just categorize them as easy-care roses because the entire line of Proven Winners® ColorChoice® roses fits into that category!

If you’re new to rose planting and care, check out this online article on Garden Design. It takes all the guesswork out of planting and caring for these iconic plants. If you want more, the Explore Roses page of the Proven Winners® ColorChoice® website has information about every rose we carry, plus a 10-part rose care video series featuring yours truly.

*The RISE UP series will premiere in garden centers in spring, 2023.
