Going for Gold!
Soft Serve® Gold false cypress (Chamaecyparis pisifera) is a champion in the landscape! With eye-catching golden foliage and a neat, feathery shape, it brings style and structure to your outdoor space. Plus, its hardiness and resistance to deer help maintain its stunning appearance year-round.
Soft Serve® Gold false cypress grows in a dense pyramidal form. The golden evergreen foliage stays bright and colorful throughout the year, so you’ll never have to worry about it looking dull in the landscape. Its shape and soft, feather-like appearance make it a great choice for a front entrance or any area that could use a touch of formality and added texture.
Soft Serve® Gold false cypress is suited to USDA zones 4-8. It is a very low-maintenance plant, growing nicely in full to part sun and any well-draining soil. It does require regular moisture, so to avoid periods of drought or dryness, consider using a layer of mulch to help keep the soil moist. Reaching a height and width of 6-10′, its neat form doesn’t require much pruning, but you can shape it in late springtime if you like.
