Big Blooms and an Intoxicating Fragrance

With fabulous floral displays (in both sight and smell), multi-season interest, and excellent durability, the Spice™ series of Koreanspice viburnum is easy to love, and its newest addition is no exception!

Arriving in spring, Spice Cowboy® Koreanspice viburnum (Viburnum carlesii) makes an immediate statement with massive, snowball-like flowers that fill the air with a spicy-sweet scent. In fall, the foliage steals the attention, turning heads with its vibrant red-orange hue.

SPICE COWBOY® Koreanspice Viburnum features massive, snowball-like blooms.

Spice Cowboy viburnum is the largest of the three varieties, growing between 6 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide. Its size alone gives it a strong presence in the landscape, but it’s the ornamental display that makes it truly impactful. Whether grown as a big shrub or trained into a small multi-stemmed tree, you won’t be able to take your eyes off it!

Spice Cowboy viburnum is suited to USDA zones 4-8. It enjoys full to part sun and grows nicely in any well-draining soil, including those with a slightly acidic pH. If deer are frequent visitors to your garden, this plant is a smart pick; its strong scent and bitter taste help keep it untouched.

Note: Requires a pollinator to produce berries, such as Spice Baby or Spice Girl viburnum.
