A Beautifully Tough Hydrangea
When gardening, it is always nice to have a plant you can count on to stay beautiful all season long, and Tiny Tuff Stuff™ mountain hydrangea (Hydrangea serrata) is just that! As part of the Tuff Stuff™ series, this bud-hardy hydrangea combines toughness with beauty, making it an ideal addition to any landscape.

Tiny Tuff Stuff™ mountain hydrangea reblooms throughout the season, with the first lacecap flowers emerging in early summer. These dainty blooms stand out against the shrub’s dark green foliage. The fuzzy centers, made up of fertile florets, add texture to the plant’s overall appearance while at the same time attracting pollinators. As the season progresses, a second batch of flowers appears at the end of summer and lasts into fall.
It is important to note that the flower color of Tiny Tuff Stuff™ mountain hydrangea depends on the soil pH. In alkaline soils (pH 7.5 or higher), the blooms will be pink, while in acidic soils (pH 6.5 or lower), they will be blue or purple.
Best suited for USDA zones 4-9, its bud hardiness allows it to grow in cool climates. It also tolerates salt and heat well, making it easy to care for in various weather conditions. Reaching a height and width of 1.5 to 2 feet, it is perfect for borders, foundations, or as a low hedge. The flower buds are formed on new and old wood; however, pruning should be minimal to avoid disrupting flowering.
