A Fun-Looking Evergreen
Your garden should represent you, whether that be a traditional and sophisticated style or something a little more playful. For those gardeners who like a fun-looking plant, Whip It Good® arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis) is a fantastic new selection. Native to North America, this variety is a great way to bring a touch of whimsy to the landscape.
Whip It Good arborvitae grows in a dense, round ball. Its evergreen foliage is long and thread-like, creating an eccentric, textured look. Maturing to a height and width of 3–5 feet, it is an excellent way to soften borders or bring a bit of quirky charm to a low hedge. Planted on its own or in a group, it adds character to the landscape that lasts all year long!
Whip It Good arborvitae is hardy in USDA Zones 3–9. It is quite tough and adaptable, thriving in a range of sun exposures. Its best growth occurs in soil that is fertile, cool, and moderately moist. Once established, it tolerates heat and drought well. This fast-growing evergreen does not require much pruning, as it naturally grows in a dense ball shape, which, in our opinion, looks best when left to do its own thing.
