Climbing Into Your Garden

If you’re a rose lover and you’ve been looking for a rose that brings a touch of uniqueness to your garden, Rise Up Lilac Days® climbing rose might just be what you’re looking for. This beautiful rose is part of the Rise Up® series of climbing roses. We at Proven Winners ColorChoice call these roses “mini climbers,” as they can be grown as a climber or a shrub rose.

In early summer, unique lilac-blue semi-double flowers begin to emerge and bloom into fall. These gorgeous blooms have a powerful, heady fragrance that is sure to turn heads. The semi-double form of the flowers will also ensure bees and other pollinators enjoy these blooms as much as you do.

The versatile habit of Rise Up Lilac Days® makes this a great fit for many gardens and landscapes, whether it’s left as a shrub or trained to climb a trellis. It also makes a delightful cut flower! It grows 5-8’ tall and 2-4’ wide and thrives in full sun. It’s suited for USDA zones 4-9.

It’s recommended to prune Rise Up Lilac Days® in early spring. Make cuts ¼ inch above a healthy bud and remove weak branches in the middle. You can remove dead or damaged wood at any time; just cut back to a set of leaves. Rise Up Lilac Days® doesn’t require deadheading for continuous bloom.

  1. I’m trying to decide where to plant my rise up lilac days rose and which way I should have it grow climbing or bush?

    • Hi there!
It can be tough to decide on a spot where a plant will really shine! Rise Up Lilac Days will be happy anywhere with full sun and moist but well-drained soil. If you have an area that could use a little bit of height, perhaps adding a trellis and training Rise Up Lilac Days to climb it is the way to go. Or its more mounded shrub habit looks fabulous as a border or foundation plant. This rose also has a great fragrance, so personally, I’d put it somewhere I can easily get to it to give it a sniff now and again!
      Happy Gardening!
