Viva Magenta
I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Viva Magenta 18-1750 is the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year; in fact, Natalie mentioned it in a previous post, in which she gave you a great rose of sharon option for bringing Viva Magenta to your garden. I have another: Magenta Chiffon® rose of sharon.

Bold and Beautiful
You may have seen Lavender, White, Blue, Pink, and even Dark Lavender Chiffon® rose of sharon. Magenta Chiffon® has the same lacy tuft in the center of its large flowers, but it’s a deeper, more intense color than the rest of the series. If you’re a fan of bold pops of color but want the reliable summer flowers of this durable plant, Magenta Chiffon® rose of sharon is for you.
Hibiscus syriacus is tolerant of some tough conditions, including heat, drought, and clay soil.
In addition to their distinctive flowers, the Chiffon® rose of sharon series has strong, uniform growth. While older varieties can seem stiff and awkward, these plants are full and quite appealing.
All will grow best in full sun and are hardy to USDA Zone 5. They will get 8-12′ tall and wide.
Looking for Something Lighter?
Maybe your not looking for anything quite this bold for your garden. If you’d prefer a lighter color, check out the other plants in the Chiffon® series in the video below. You’re sure to find one that works for you!
